This poster pays tribute to Ar Men, one of Brittany’s most legendary lighthouses. Standing off the coast of Île de Sein, at the far end of the Chaussée de Sein, it watches over a maritime area renowned for its reefs and powerful currents. Its construction, which began in 1867, was a remarkable challenge: the rocky islet was so difficult to access that workers could sometimes remain there for only a few minutes. First lit in 1881, Ar Men became known as “the Hell of Hells” because of the extreme conditions endured by its lighthouse keepers.

With its vintage graphic style, this poster celebrates an exceptional symbol of Brittany’s maritime heritage.
