MODEL TRAINING SHIP "BELEM"
Miniature reproduction of the Belem sailboat. Artisan work done in wood with cotton sails and hand painted. It is delivered assembled and in individual box.
The construction of Belem began in early 1896 at the Dubigeon shipyards (Nantes) by the owner Denis Crouan. It was used for the transport of goods, transporting up to 675 tons of cargo with a crew of 13 men.
The Belem crosseD the Atlantic carrying rum, sugar cane and cocoa from the Amazon to France.
After knowing several lives, moving from the luxury sailboat under the English to a school ship in Venice, in 1979 it ends up being owned by the Caisse d'Epargne bank. Through the Belem Foundation, and many volunteers involved in the restoration project, it has become the school ship we know. In 1984, it was declared a historical monument and continues to sail all over the world.
