

LIGHTHOUSE CANDLE HOLDER "ROTER SAND"
The "Roter Sand" lighthouse (1885) is located 30 nautical miles offshore in the North Sea, in an area of constantly moving sand and deep sea swell during storms. Its lights went out for good in 1986. In 1987 the lighthouse was restored thanks to effective action by a number of associations and now belongs to the German cultural heritage foundation (Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz). It has been open for visits and even overnight stays since 1999.
